CURRENT SCHEDULE OF RATES

The rates for the Merrimack Village District (MVD) are established and updated by the MVD Board of Commissioners BOC in accordance with New Hampshire state law.
Governing Authority: The BOC serves as the governing body responsible for setting all water service and system rates. Rate-setting authority is granted under New Hampshire RSA 38:28, which allows the BOC to establish a "Schedule of Rates".
Rate-Setting Process: MVD periodically hires independent firms to complete comprehensive water rate studies. These studies analyze operational budget levels, infrastructure debt service, and capital reserve goals. Rates are evaluated against MVD’s annual operating budget. If the recommended budget can be sustained by current revenue, the BOC may vote against a rate change. Before any modifications can be made to the Schedule of Rates, the BOC must hold at least one posted public hearing to allow for and obtain any rate payers’ feedback.
